Metal packaging is more than cans and biscuit tins. In 2002, the VISIGN and R&D department at Glud & Marstrand began working on a development project that ended with the launch of SteelBook™ metal media box last autumn – an exclusive media packaging for DVDs and CDs, among others. VISIGN knew that the market for DVDs, computer games and CDs lacked a more exclusive alternative to the plastic and cardboard packaging that has been the standard until now. SteelBook™ metal media box has the same dimensions as the well-known Amaray soft box, but the exterior is made of metal. The interior is a clear plastic core which resembles the well-known method for securing the disc. SteelBook™ metal media box can be decorated on both the inside and the outside using numerous different decoration techniques such as paint and embossing. SteelBook™ metal media box provides media manufacturers with a packaging that to a much larger extent than the soft box matches up with the quality of the games, films and music it contains. Through the packaging, the manufacturer can now make his product stand out on the shelf in the purchasing situation, and the consumer will get a new and improved sense of value. SteelBook™ metal media box will be sold globally, and considering demand, we expect that the new packaging will be a major export success.
